The Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF), a results-driven, entrepreneurial non-profit organization headquartered in Agawam, Massachusetts, is seeking an Engagement Officer for its flagship program, PJ Library. PJ Library, is currently serving more than 160,000 family subscribers in 200 communities throughout North America, with hundreds of thousands more around the world.

POSITION OVERVIEW


The Engagement Officer will oversee PJ Library's grants supporting innovative Jewish organizations, known as Spark Grants. These grants offer both financial resources and ongoing training to grantees, with a focus on engagement through social justice, outdoor education, and food-related programming. This position will lead both grants management and training professionals working with young families. The Engagement Officer will be a part of the Content and Engagement Department and report to its Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES


Grant Management
  • Refine and maintain application documents
  • Consult interested PJ Library communities and innovative Jewish organizations
  • Manage grant review and selection process
  • Support collaboration between PJ Library partners and innovative Jewish organizations
  • On-board grantees including working with Community Engagement team to curate available PJ Library resources
  • Design and facilitate Communities of Practice
  • Oversee grant reporting and evaluation, including periodic site visits
Strategic guidance
  • Help evaluate and modify grant strategy including making recommendations on priority areas of funding
  • Document learnings to share with PJ Library partners, funders, and other stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date on research related to fields of Jewish engagement and specific funding areas such as outdoor education, social justice, and food
  • Meet with strategic partners and funders to deepen understanding and learnings related to Spark grantees and funding areas.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Expertise in training professionals and directly engaging families with young children in Jewish life, both within and outside the organized Jewish community.
  • Knowledge of trends and experience in one of these fields within the Jewish community: social justice, outdoor education and/or food-related programming
  • Outstanding written, organizational and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects at once
  • Attentive to detail and process
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online webinar platforms with a willingness to learn more
  • Embracing of the wide range of ways families choose to engage with Judaism and Jewish community.

Hours: Minimum 20 hours week with the possibility of more hours, given the candidate's qualifications.
Location: Strong preference given to candidates able to work with regular frequency in the Agawam, MA headquarters.
Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
