We're writing to share with you the bittersweet news that after nearly 12 years as Executive Director of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF), Joanna S. Ballantine has decided to begin a new phase in her career. She will be transitioning this summer and her last day with the HGF will be August 16, 2012.
Joanna has served the Foundation with distinction during a period of incredible growth for the Foundation and has played a major role in all that the HGF has accomplished locally in Western Massachusetts, in the United States, Canada, the FSU, and in Israel. She has been instrumental in the growth of the HGF's three signature programs: the PJ Library (which just delivered book number three million last week!), Sifriyat Pijama in Israel, and the Grinspoon Institute for Jewish Philanthropy. These three programs are left in the capable hands of Marcie Greenfield Simons, Director of PJ Library, Galina Vromen, Director of Sifriyat Pijama, and Mark Gold, Director of the Institute. Valerie Gintis will be managing Western Massachusetts Programs and Grants. Joanna's other responsibilities will be transitioned to other veteran HGF staff. We are so proud of all that Joanna has accomplished and are confident that she will continue to meet with success.
Joanna has accepted a position with Richard Levin and Associates, a Boston-based consulting firm, where she will be starting a new division. She will be focused on expanding the firm's reach to offer Executive Coaching and Organizational Consulting with the Non-Profit sector, focusing in part on Jewish organizations, Environmental and Sustainability organizations, Health Care and Social Service Agencies, and Higher Education. Richard Levin and Associates is highly regarded in the business sector, and he is one of the architects of the Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) with the Foundation for Jewish Camp.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the HGF staff, I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to Joanna for her dedicated and skillful leadership over these many years. HGF is indebted to Joanna for her professionalism, vision and creativity. She will always remain part of the HGF family.
