Retreat   Dec 19 - Dec 21
Reclaiming Judaism's Earth Wisdom
In this retreat with Jewish environmental education pioneer David Arfa, you will explore the forgotten landscape where Judaism and ecology meet. Ancient Rabbis planted their feelings inside Judaism's holidays, blessings, prayers, texts, and mystical practices for future generations to remember. They connected the calendar to the seasons, created awe-filled blessings to notice the natural world around us, developed a prayer book overflowing with the entire universe, and even expanded a law to mandate simplicity! Our work will be to awaken our inner Rabbi and discover where we stand within this ancient/modern Jewish journey.        Kids Welcome!  - Age Range: 14+    Rowe Camp & Conference Center    339-4954    info@rowecenter.org

Celebrating the Impermanent
This exhibit by Emmett Leader explores the celebration of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot on a personal and traditional level. The spirit of Sukkot is celebratory, as well as a time to reflect on our vulnerability-- using clay, wood, found objects and archival materials, the exhibit includes a wide range of objects, narratives and spaces that through their intimacy, function and beauty invite participation. Reception: Saturday, October 11, 4 – 6 p.m. Artist Talk: Saturday, October 11, 3 - 4:00 p.m.       Ferrin Gallery / Pittsfield    Leslie Ferrin    442-1622
