Outreach Officer, PJ Library

The Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF), a results-driven, entrepreneurial non-profit organization headquartered in Agawam, Massachusetts, is seeking an Outreach Officer for its flagship program, PJ Library. PJ Library www.pjlibrary.org, is currently serving over 240,000 subscribers in nearly 200 communities throughout North America, with hundreds of thousands more around the world.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement, the Outreach Officer will be part of a cross-departmental team dedicated to ensuring that a growing base of families across the United States and Canada learn about PJ Library and enroll to receive books every month. Working in coordination with the national marketing team, the Outreach Officer will drive growth through affiliates – the nearly 200 partner organizations which implement PJ Library locally.

The Outreach Officer joins the close-knit and dynamic PJ Library engagement team and will work closely with the national and New York marketing teams.


  • Support local PJ Library program professionals to market their local programs, and to encourage families to enroll in PJ Library.

  • Advance PJ Library's marketing efforts focused on enrolling families with children ages 0-2, including taking a lead role on Shalom Baby campaigns and managing PJ Library's mohel network.

  • Support communities in setting measurable growth goals.

  • Create and maintain “playbook” of marketing best practices. Ensure marketing best practices and resources are a core component of the onboarding process for new PJ Library program professionals.

  • Stay current with emerging marketing approaches and enrollment patterns in PJ Library communities around the world.

  • Identify potential opportunities for sponsorship and/or increased investment by HGF, based on community readiness and market potential.

  • Maintain an unwavering focus on data, making data-driven decisions to refine strategy and execution.

  • In close collaboration with the marketing team, develop and deliver relevant marketing resources to local program professionals. Delivery methods include, but are not limited to, video, webinars, online postings, website enrichment, small group gatherings, regional gatherings, etc.

  • Encourage usage of digital toolkits produced by marketing team.

  • Design and implement professional learning and 1:1 coaching opportunities for PJ Library professional network around outreach and marketing, including content at the annual PJ Library conference.

  • Provide consultation to international communities as needed.

  • Collaborate with HGF advancement and engagement officer teams to ensure alignment of marketing support with the overall strategic vision/plans in partner communities.

  • Assist with the selection, reporting and yearly review of PJ Library engagement, staff and other grants offered to PJ Library Implementing Partners.

  • Travel on a regular basis within the US/Canada for PJ Library Conferences, group trainings and community site visits following CDC guidelines and HGF organizational policy.

  • Outstanding written, organizational and presentation skills

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects at once

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite

  • Proficiency with email marketing and social media platforms, and related analytics

  • Working knowledge of Canva preferred

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of relevant education, certification, training, and experience

  • Background in Jewish holidays/values, diverse families raising Jewish children, and parenting trends

  • Knowledge of Jewish community and Jewish communal organizations (preferred)


  • Experience with 1:1 coaching, relationship building, strategic planning and goal setting

  • At least four years of experience in sales, marketing, advertising, or a related field

  • Experience building productive relationships across internal teams and with external partners

  • Experience managing projects a plus


Position is remote, with travel to PJ Library communities in the US/Canada as well as the Harold Grinspoon Foundation headquarters in Agawam, MA.
