Senior Accountant

The Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF), located in Agawam, MA, is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant. This position will support current operational activities of the accounting department and participate in new initiatives of the foundation.



HGF seeks to further the realization of the religious and ethical principles and aspirations of Judaism via its flagship programs: PJ Library; JCamp 180, Life & Legacy, and Voices & Visions, and through grants to eligible individuals and organizations. The largest of the programs, PJ Library, provides families with free high-quality children's books, music, and other resources that foster Jewish learning and create a gateway for deeper engagement in Jewish life.
 

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Senior Accountant supports and manages various administrative and financial functions related to financial reporting and accounting within the Foundation. The Senior Accountant interacts with other staff, grantees, auditors, vendors, and other external partners.
 

Duties

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing ledger entries and financial reports.
  • Reconciling accounts and reviewing reconciliations prepared by others.
  • Recording investment activity and reviewing reports prepared by others.
  • Participating in new system implementations and integrations.
  • Assisting with payroll and benefits administration.
  • Supporting leadership with financial and administrative projects.
  • Leading projects to improve accounting and technology processes.
  • Assisting with monthly reporting and key performance indicators for management.
  • Coordinating budget and expense tracking processes with variance analysis.
  • Performing special projects and other duties as assigned by the CFO.
 

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience working in an accounting or finance function.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is preferred.
