The Harold Grinspoon Foundation is proud to partner with Durham-Chapel Hill Jewish Federation to honor excellent Jewish educators in Durham-Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The Durham Chapel Hill Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education is presented to one Jewish educator from the Durham/Chapel Hill area each year. Award recipients demonstrate strong pedagogical skills while embracing the teaching of Jewish values, content, and Hebrew. The application process takes place each February. Nathan Somers, of The Sandra E Lerner Jewish Day School

Nathan Somers serves as the Director of Jewish Life at the Lerner Jewish Day School. In this role he plans and executes all Jewish programming for preschool through 5th grade. Additionally, he teaches 3rd through 5th grade classes.
