Access to books at a very early age is critical to instill a love of reading and learning in all children -- especially in underserved communities. Recognizing the importance of early childhood literacy, the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation’s Starlight program provides books to preschool children in Western Massachusetts.

The Starlight program provides high-quality, age-appropriate books from outstanding publishers to local preschool classrooms – and then gifts those books to the children so families can be inspired to create and build their home libraries!

Through this program, preschool children in Springfield, Massachusetts and surrounding communities receive four high quality books each year. Children engage with the books in the classroom through reading and fun activities -- and then take the books home.

“Thanks for supporting a child’s love for reading at an early age. This is a significant program. Thanks for your Literacy Support!”
